At present, many outdoor products on the market need to be marked with the waterproof level of the product, so how is the waterproof level divided? Here we refer to the requirements and regulations of the more commonly used national standard "GB4208-2017 Enclosure Protection Level IP Code".
The waterproof level is divided very detailed in this regulation, which can be divided into nine levels from IPX1 to IPX9.
The specific situation is as follows:
Waterproof level IPX1: drip-proof, place the shell on a turntable with a rotation speed of 1r/min, the eccentricity (the distance between the axis of the turntable and the axis of the sample) is about 100mm, and a uniform water flow is generated through the drip plate. The product shell is subjected to a drip-proof test for 10 minutes.
Waterproof level IPX2: Tilt 10° to prevent dripping. Place the shell on a turntable with an eccentricity (the distance between the axis of the turntable and the axis of the sample) of about 100mm. A uniform water flow is generated through the drip plate. The product shell is subjected to a drip-proof test for 10 minutes. The test time is 10 minutes, and the product is tested in four directions for 2.5 minutes in each direction.
Waterproof level IPX3: Rainproof, the product is tested for rainproof through a swing pipe. The distance between the swing pipe and the product shell is 200mm, and the swing pipe swings 60° on both sides of the vertical line, a total of 120°. Each swing takes about 4 seconds, and the test lasts for 10 minutes.
Waterproof level IPX4: Splashproof, the product is tested for rainproof through a swing pipe. The distance between the swing pipe and the product shell is 200mm, and the swing pipe swings 180° on both sides of the vertical line, a total of about 360°. Each swing takes about 12 seconds, and the test lasts for 10 minutes.
Waterproof level IPX5: Waterproof, the shell is sprayed with water at a distance of 2.5-3 meters from the spray gun to the product shell, and the water flow rate is 12.5±0.625L/min. The test lasts for at least 3 minutes.
Waterproof level IPX6: Strong water spray resistance. When the spray gun is 2.5-3 meters away from the product shell, use test water with a water flow rate of 100±5L/min to conduct a strong spray test on the shell. The test duration is at least 3 minutes.
Waterproof level IPX7: Waterproof. Immerse the shell in about 1 meter of water. The test duration is 30 minutes.
Waterproof level IPX8: Pressure immersion (anti-diving). Immerse the shell in 1 meter or more of water. The test duration is set according to the product application scenario. The test standard should be negotiated and formulated by the manufacturer and the user.
Waterproof level IPX9: High temperature and high pressure spray resistance. The water flow from the standard test nozzle is sprayed on the shell surface. The water temperature is required to be 80±5℃. The nozzle spray angle is 0°, 30°, 60°, and 90°. The test time is 30 seconds for each nozzle.
