Differences Between IPX3 and IPX4 Waterproof Test Equipment and the Different Oscillating Tubes Used in Their Tests

Latest company news about Differences Between IPX3 and IPX4 Waterproof Test Equipment and the Different Oscillating Tubes Used in Their Tests

In the field of product waterproof performance testing, IPX3 and IPX4 are two common and similar waterproof rating standards. These standards use specific oscillating tubes to simulate different levels of water spray environments to evaluate the product's waterproof capabilities. With the increasing precision required for waterproofing in various industries, understanding the differences between the oscillating tubes used in the IPX3 and IPX4 tests is crucial.

The main differences between the waterproof test equipment for IPX3 and IPX4 lie in the oscillating tube angle, water flow rate, and test duration. Below are the specific parameter differences:

1. Oscillating Tube Angle:

l IPX3 Waterproof Test Equipment: The oscillating tube swings 60° to either side of the vertical axis, for a total of 120°.

l IPX4 Waterproof Test Equipment: The oscillating tube swings 180° to either side of the vertical axis, for a total of 360°.

2. Water Flow Rate:

l IPX3 Waterproof Test Equipment: The flow rate per hole is 0.07 L/min. The total water flow of the oscillating tube varies depending on the tube radius. For example, for an R600 oscillating tube, the total flow rate is 1.8 L/min.

l IPX4 Waterproof Test Equipment: The flow rate per hole is also 0.07 L/min, but the total water flow is greater. For example, for an R600 oscillating tube, the total flow rate is 2.6 L/min.

3. Test Duration:

l IPX3: Continuous water spraying for 10 minutes, with the sample rotated 90° after 5 minutes of testing.

l IPX4: The sample is placed at a 15° angle. The test is performed in four directions, with each direction being tested for 2.5 minutes.

4. Sample Placement:

l IPX3: The sample is placed horizontally.

l IPX4: The sample is placed at a 15° angle.

In conclusion, the differences between IPX3 and IPX4 reflect that the IPX4 waterproof test equipment has stricter test conditions compared to IPX3. These include a larger oscillating tube angle, higher water flow rate, and different sample placement angles, all of which simulate more severe rainwater impact scenarios. By using these different testing parameters, the product can be ensured to have adequate waterproof performance under various levels of water exposure.
